What we are looking for:

The accounts payable specialist is responsible for managing all activities associated with the timely and accurate payment of invoices and other remittances for the Fiera Real Estate group of funds as well as overseeing electronic banking transactions, tax and bill payments and review and coordination of billing relationships with Fiera vendors and internal contacts across funds.

Fiera Real Estate is a Canadian real estate investment-management team that protects and grows the money we manage on behalf of our clients and partners by investing directly in exceptional commercial real estate assets. Fiera Real Estate manages approximately CAD 9 billion of commercial real estate through its investment funds and accounts, which hold office, retail, industrial and multi-family properties across Canada and the UK.

Your responsibilities:

  • Accounts payable processing for all Fiera funds– reviewing data entry input, managing the communication and flow of invoices to the central hub, paying invoices when due via cheque or online payment, preparing and processing account transfers, EFTs and wire transfers, coordinating proper signing for all payments and ensuring all processes and approvals are received on a timely basis.
  • Manages AP systems functions including maintenance of general ledger posting accounts and AP subledger, ensures accuracy and timeliness for all monthly reporting and payables tracking.
  • Reviews and verifies invoice coding and system posting at the GL level.
  • Resolves non-routine and complex payment issues with vendors. Communicates with vendors on AP related issues.
  • Manages GST / HST and QST payments for all entities as well as taking responsibility for administrative issues with CRA related to GST / HST and QST remittances and refunds.
  • Work with all banks and property managers where necessary, to implement and manage ACH / EFT / PAD programs to ensure proper handling of all system and automated payment requirements.
  • Works with accounting staff to ensure all monthly expenses and accruals / estimates are properly reviewed and accounted for and invoice coding is correct and recorded appropriately.
  • Creates special/ad hoc reports and responds to requests and queries as required.


Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • 3 to 5 years senior level AP oversight / management experience in a medium to large size organization or equivalent technical expertise
  • Related college or university level diploma / degree
  • Strong Excel user
  • Self starter and motivated
  • Ability to prioritize and respond quickly
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
