The Data Engineer will be based out of any of our sites in the US and CA. The Data Engineer will organize, analyze, understand, and enhance ICP’s manufacturing data to enable self-service business intelligence (BI). As the Data Engineer, you are responsible for developing centralized, reusable data assets shared with report authors and analysts within ICP’s operations. Using your knowledge of ICP’s infrastructure and operating environment, you will ensure data is ingested, transformed, scheduled, tested, documented, and ready to be used for business intelligence. You are a data evangelist, educating the business on the importance and benefits of data for business decisions while promoting easily accessible, standard data assets and documentation. You will lead ICP’s manufacturing metadata strategy, including developing data lineages, data value chains, data models, relationship mapping, contextual information, and other details that allow for easier discovery, understanding, and use of ICP’s manufacturing data. As the Data Engineer, you will ensure data transformation workflows are optimized, monitored, and updated to ensure data assets are well-maintained and performant for data customers. You will collaborate with report authors and analysts within ICP’s operations to define data asset requirements and enable the successful use of data assets currently available. You have a growth mindset and are knowledgeable, entrepreneurial, self-directed, confident, and passionate about your mission to create positive change through analytics engineering. You will work closely with the Business Data Manager to influence our Corporate Data Strategy by engineering a self-service business intelligence environment that supports our data-driven culture. This is a permanent, full-time position. The primary language of work is English.

Job Requirements
- Postsecondary education in Data Science and Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar field of study
- 3-5 years of related experience
- A strong learning agility and the ability to adapt and grow
- Hands on experience with relational and non-relational databases
- Understanding of data warehouse concepts
- Ability to write complex SQL queries
- Experience in data processing with Python
- Strong oral and communication skills
- Solid stakeholder management skills
The main duties/responsibilities of this role include:
- Designing and implementing reporting solutions in various BI tools as required (Excel, Cognos, PowerBI, Jupyter Notebook, etc.)
- Querying SQL/NoSQL databases and RESTful APIs
- Engineering reusable, self-service data assets
- Develop ETL pipelines in Power BI and Microsoft Azure to support self-service business intelligence (BI)
- Optimize, monitor, and troubleshoot existing ETL pipelines and data assets to ensure they are available and accessible to business users
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve data quality and data integrity during data ETL process
- Lead, prioritize, and execute on the development of self-service data assets solutions in support of the Reporting and Analytics strategy
- Communicating and disseminating engineered data assets to business users once developed
- Designing, developing, and communicating KPIs to business stakeholders
- Documenting and diagramming data lineages, data value chains, data models, and ETL pipelines in UML
Metadata management
- Lead ICP Manufacturing’s metadata management strategy as part of the Reporting and Analytics Strategy
- Create and update UML diagrams for data lineages, data value chains, and data models
- Create and update UML diagrams for self-serve data prep processing steps
- Create accessible metadata documentation to help business users discover and understand available self-service data assets
- Apply version control practices to track and data asset changes
- Communicate metadata changes to business users
Leadership
- Support ICP Manufacturing’s overarching self-service business intelligence (BI) initiative as part of the Reporting and Analytics strategy
- Coach and mentor data customers to improve their use of standard data assets and the self-service BI ecosystem.
- Develop processes and standards for working with ICP’s manufacturing data that others can adopt and follow
- Disrupt established reporting and analytics solutions that are not aligned with the self-service business intelligence initiative
- Facilitate hands-on training sessions to teach others

Research and Development
- Research and self-educate on emerging technologies and themes relating to Data Engineering
- Assess new technologies/approaches, and promote their use across the organization
- Research other areas of design, technology, and innovation that support ICP Manufacturing’s Reporting and Analytics strategy
