About Us:

Family Place is a non-profit, charitable organization that exists to provide a comprehensive range of free pre and postnatal, family support, parent education, and child development programs and services to families with children from conception to 12 years living in East Prince County and PEI. Particular focus is aimed at reducing barriers to accessing services and reaching families who are experiencing additional life challenges.

About our Reggio Kids Pre-K Program:

We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach which values, respects, and challenges young children while nurturing their curiosity, creativity, and relationships. We value parents as the first and most important teachers of their children, the importance of community, open-ended play and inquiry, and the ever-evolving interests of the child.

We use a variety of authentic play materials including ‘intelligent materials’ and ‘loose parts’ which are primarily recycled and natural materials that have the power to bring about complex play and transient creations, can be moved around, tinkered with, designed and redesigned, and provide endless opportunities for creative engagement and inquiry.

Transitions are kept to a minimum so that we can embrace the gift of time and allow the students to become invested in meaningful play, explorations, processes, interactions with open-ended materials, and socially engaging with their peers and teachers. Our work and all that we do is driven by curiosity, wonderment, joy, and connection.

Equal Opportunity Employer:
