Technical Supervisor

Job Description

Managing and overseeing the civil/architectural drafting team.Acting as a technical mentor.Assigning work to design team.Overseeing progress of jobs.Co-ordinating and prioritizing design jobs.Assessing and determining the scope of new jobs.Acting as primary drawing/deliverable checker for their design team.Reviewing Consultant’s deliverables.Reviewing ECC exclusion documentation.Conducting performance management, including coaching and performance appraisals.Performing hiring interviews to grow the design team.Reviewing the design planning packages.Reviewing new job ECCs prior to Submitting.Advising on the appropriate use of ECC, RREC, Exclusions, and Non-Engineering deliverable.What We Are Looking For Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position or Secondary School Graduation Diploma and normally has more than 10 years of pertinent progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education, and/or training.Relevant experience working in a design engineering setting is required, with experience in nuclear would be an asset;Architectural design aptitude and have a sound working knowledge of those systemsRelevant experience with managing and oversight of draftspersons and designers;Must be mature, trustworthy, and exercise sound judgment with a keen sense of responsibility.Candidates with relevant technical college diploma, or equivalent combination of skills, training and experience, with an emphasis on technical design will be an asset.Must have demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to delegate effectively.Must have the ability to work smoothly and effectively with customers, technical staff, colleagues and management.Initiative to resolve problems and expedites resources, work plans or other appropriate actions.Must be capable of overseeing a group of 3 to 7 draftspersons/designers; includingperforming mentoringcoachingperformance managementProficiency in both written and oral communication is required.Initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers and internal and external customers in a team environment.Possess strong and effective leadership skillsPossess strong mentoring and performance management skillsPossesses a positive attitude and a strong ability to work effectively within a teamCapable of working independently in an environment of rapidly changing and conflicting priorities using prioritization and planning skills to meet established deadlinesPersonal commitment to safety and a questioning attitudeSelf-motivated individual showing attention to detail and accuracyMust possess excellent knowledge of the CNL Design Office Manual (DOM)Must possess excellent knowledge of the CNL Engineering Change Control (ECC) ProcessMust possess an excellent knowledge of design drafting techniques and practices.Must possess knowledge of standard construction, equipment, processes, and materials in both civil and architectural fieldsSecurity clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.Why CNL?
